Level 4, Intermediate, Post 4, 'Compost'

Hi, today I'm going to talk about a method to take advantage of the organic waste that we generate in home, I talk about the composting. the composting is a transformation process of organic waste, like the vegetable peels, to obtain a natural fertilizer, called compost. 

The 40% approx. of the garbage generated in homes are organic, so this can be reciclated, and would contribute to many things, like reducing the garbage that reaches landfills, and also, contributes to the nutrition of plants returning this material to the earth, without affecting the environment, contrary of this, the compost gives life to the ground, because it is full of necessary microorganisms for life to arise.

There are many forms to do compost, however the easiest way is to make a hole in the ground and gradually add the organic material, always accompanying with some of dry material, like dry leaves or just more soil. Nature will do its thing, and you only have to worry about stirring every time you add more material, to prevent it from rotting. The compost will be ready in about six months. 

 I have been learning from this for a couple of years and I will not lie that it has not been easy, however you can always learn from mistakes, now I’m experimenting with earthworms, that speed up the process, and it has been a very good experience so far.
